First Name: Rupert
Last Name: Giles
Middle Name:unknown
Age:early 50s
Height/Weight:just under 6ft...unsure of weight. My guess would be around 200lb, but I suck at weight guesses lol
Eyes:Hazel
Hair:graying black
Character description/personality: This Giles is cold and cunning, intelligent and manipulative, vicious and ruthless. He combines the knowledge, resourcesfulness, tenacity and strong will of the human Giles with the cruel, twisted darkness of the vampire. The darkness that was 'Ripper' is magnifed and made truly intimidating. He fears nothing and is intimdated by nothing. He thrives on his power and his ability to make humans and lesser vampires fear him. He is a natural leader, a powerful predator who is happy only when he is in control. He is confident, almost arrogant, and he takes pleasure in the pain of his victims.
Persuasion: (good evil neutral)evil
Type of Creature:vampire
Powers:enhanced senses, heightened stregnth,speed
Weaknesses: the typical vampire ones. Sunlight, crosses, stakes, fire, holy water
History:Giles was born and raised in England. He wanted to be a 'fighter pilot or perhaps a grocer', but he was told of his Watcher destiny at age 10. After school, he studied at Oxford. He became something of a rebel, dropping out for a while and running with a tough crowd. They did dark magicks and toyed with the demon Eghyon, whose mark is still on Giles' arm. Eghyon got loose and came back to haunt Giles much later. Eventually, Giles did settle down and accept his destiny, finishing school and then attending the Academy. He was dispatched to train Buffy after Merrick's death.
Giles worked as the Sunnydale high librarian while training Buffy, slowly becoming quite close to her. He made friends with and then started to date computer teacher Jenny Calendar, although things got rocky when Egyhon came after him and ended up possessing her. They did become rather close eventually, but she was killed by Angelus. Giles was nearly killed himself trying to avenge her death. Later, Angelus tortured him to find out the information he needed about Acathla.
Giles continued working with Buffy, although he once had a rather embarrassing fling with Buffy's mom Joyce, brought on by enchanted band candy. Buffy only found out about the police car sex later on. Giles was eventually fired as Buffy's watcher after the Cruciamentum test. Buffy passed, but Giles was deemed too attached to Buffy. Despite Wesley coming to town, Buffy remained fiercely loyal to Giles and later quit the council for a time in protest of their actions closer to graduation.
In season 4, Giles felt a bit left out as Buffy moved on to college, although she still tried to maintain ties with him. It is here that things take a sudden departure from the TV series. Buffy battled a group of unique vampires known as kachequiels, who derived their power from the bad-god Cametzotz. They are slightly more powerful and difficult to kill than regular vamps and their eyes glow orange.
Buffy broke in on a group of kachequiels hiding on board a ship, and Giles was taken captive. Buffy believed she could best rescue him by retreating and regrouping, then swooping in to rescue Giles. But by the time she returned, Giles had been turned. In the novel, he captures her and imprisons her, then becomes the unrivaled vampire king of Sunnydale.
Canon or Original?: Canon, sort of. He's the alternate Giles from the Buffy novel "The Lost Slayer"
