Character description/personality: A rough and tumble, tom boy at heart, Jane is tough yet with a vulnerable edge. Shes not afraid to get down and dirty and is incredibly loyal to her friends. Bottling things up is common for her, thinking she can fight her own battles when sometimes, she does need help.

History:
Born to Carlos and Evelyn Valieri and the younger sister to Lucas by a year, Jane spent more time with her father due to her mothers working career. As a young child she adored her father, and he'd call her Janie-bear, a nickname that still haunts her today. Every night he'd tell her that she put her pyjama's on backwards but he'd fix them, but to keep it a secret. Her father molested her over time until her parents got divorced.
Not much is known with her life after, but she came to Degrassi when her school, Lakehurst, was burned down. Making friends with Darcy and Manny and going on a skiing trip, a rapist using roofies was at the same party; unknown to Jane, Darcy was the victim and while Jane told Manny and Darcy that she was glad none of them was the victim, she didn't know Darcy's secret.

Late for class and Spinner signs her up for the peace committee hes in
They go on a date but he leaves after she nudges him, making her confused until she finds he he was diagnosed with testicular cancer(ball cancer as Spin calls it)
Finds new interests and joins archery club where she bonds more with Darcy, cementing their friendship.
Graduation
Wanting to play football gets her beaten up by the team, mocked when shes a good player and harrassed. Sticking up for herself in the end wins some of the loyalty of the other guys(Riley, Sav, Danny)
Spinner and Jane have plans, he'll go to police school and she'll do pre-law. When hes not accepted, he tries to tell her the truth and ends up lying which causes them to argue and break up. With Jane at a Leadership Convention, Spin goes to try and win her back and proposes which she turns him down. In the end, with the help of a few friends, Jane wins back Spinner.
With Lucas being a drop out, the kids mom decides to contact Carlos, thinking Lucas could benefit from father-son time. Jane isn't happy and is constantly cold shouldering him. No one knows why, even she doesn't. Crying and with memories resurfacing, she starts thinking he did something to her. Still, unable to speak to anyone, she finally confronts Lucas(why do you think it took him so long to put me to bed?) and when Jane confronts their father, taking Luca's daughter away from him, Lucas helps Jane and tells their father to leave, and no one in their family ever wants to see him again.
Jane is then tasked with telling the story to their mother, who is shocked. They hug and the three go into counselling.
When the Dot is held up by gunpoint, Spinner is shot by mistake and Jane is there to make sure hes okay.
