I was back to my old self again. The scars had faded, the stiff bones mended, my hair was as silky and bright as sunshine it's self. It had taken two decades to finally heal myself after the death of my beloved child. My heart mourned Louis and Armand who I had no idea still existed but I was well again and fledgling-less again but I had aspirations of the future.
I had decided to go back to my roots. The theater, theater had always treated me well and I was yearning for it once again. The sight of my old theater burning a few decades back had rekindled the feelings I had once had. I had my eyes on a beautiful place with in Paris, it was an opera house and I yearned for it. There was a rumour that it was cursed, that there was an evil phantom. This made me laugh, how I loved such silly mortal tales.
I was to own this theater and there would be no vampires, only mortals apart from I. Beautiful succulent humans with hopes and dreams like I had once had. I would only pick the very best actors in Paris, they would have to win a place in my heart in able to be a part of my fabulous crew and I would be the lead in the play. Off stage I would also play the role of the kind and loving theater owner, my staff would love me and so would the audience and community. Yes, I would be loved.
So when this theater came up for sale for a surprisingly low price, I snapped it up. There had been some sort of fire there but within a few months I had it refurbished and fitted to make it more beautiful than it had ever been. All I had to do was to persuade people that the place was safe and not haunted. I had no cast, crew or audience. That was my challenge. I loved a challenge. I could also use my charm of course to woe mortals in.
There was also one drawback to my wonderful dream. I was immortal and I would not be around in the day. I had acquired a co-manager to over look things in the day but I would need a nocturnal cast if I was to insist on playing the lead part. There would have to be rehearsals in the early hours of the morning. I would tell them that I was deadly allergic to the sun and could only come out at evening. I had a nicely fitted room beneath the theater in all the finest French furniture I could buy. It was also like a fortress, no mortal could open the door, they wouldn't have the strength.
While working diligently on paperwork one early evening in the ticketing office on the ground floor leading off from the entrance hall. I was surprised to hear a visitor, their soft footsteps moving around the newly refurbished entrance hall. I had already started auditioning for new actors, singers and dancers but I had not expected anyone tonight, especially when people were too afraid to come near the place.
With curiosity I rose from my seat and walked to greet which ever mortal had stumbled into my path, perhaps they were dinner in they were of no use to me. It was a beautiful young lady, she was pretty with dark curls, perfect skin and a curvaceous body. The entrance hall was fully lit and I walked to her as loudly as a mortal would so that I would not scare her.
I immediately put on the kind, handsome, theater owner act. "Bonsoir, Mademoiselle. May I help you with anything this beautiful evening?" I asked her with a gently soft smile, my rich flamboyant french clothing twinkling under the light. I would of course make the perfect Prince.
