Stories, legends, myths. Some say that all fictional stories have some root in the truth. Others would say that was completely crazy. The ones that say that it would be crazy? They would be wrong. Supernatural characters DO exist, but they've long since forgotten about the land of the real. Over 100 years ago, a mass exodus of supernatural kin decided it would be best if they separated themselves from a humanity that grew more and more towards technology and less from their ancient roots. With all of their resources, they founded a city in the wilds of Canada, far north and in the woodlands. Built from the ground up, the Unreal City was born.
Unreal City was created and protected with the ashes of their fallen kin. The dreams and hopes of the people of the Unreal City lie dormant and locked within its confines, forever sealed away from the lands of the Real where normal human beings refuse to look the supernatural in the eye. Be it their minds or souls too weak to look, their eyes are shut.
The location isn't known except to those who's eyes are wide open. A pulse seems to guide the newly born supernatural towards the portholes located around the world. Take the train, the bus, the ferry there, but a trip that should be hours only takes two through the portholes. As the fog clears when you pull into the station or the harbor, eyes widen and you see a place that should be where forests grow or snow falls. No. It is a city, a glorious one that remains untouched as the years go by. Having stood for hundreds of years, the Unreal City is filled with supernatural beings beyond all imagination. Humans who dared look fill these spaces as well, living among the vampires, the werewolves, the awakened, the vierge and the hunter. You soon find out however, that this place is far from a Utopia.
It is as any other city is, filled with wonder but also crawling with crime in its underbelly. Protecting those citizens are the Bluecoats, the police of the Unreal City. Different organizations exist to protect their own kind, each kin having its own place to fall back upon. However there are many who simply live, exercising their rights to do as they please within the city. They live normal day to day lives because the sun always rises and sets as it would anywhere.
BLOOD AND THUNDER is an original RPG that pulls from many different sources of inspiration. The entire concept behind it is "What if fictional characters or concepts did exist?" Would they be laughing at their own legends or so called 'creators'? We pull from a great deal of fiction to make this hybrid world. We accept characters from any sort of fiction, as long as they are adapted to our story and concept. This is a gothic rpg as well as a city rpg. It's all about these types of characters living their lives and dealing with the politics and struggle of having so many different types of supernatural to interact with. Original characters are welcomed and encouraged as well. Please read our rules for more information.
