My impulsive, quick shopping trip was turning into and endeavor. I couldn’t find what I knew Jasper wanted. For some reason it wasn’t in any of the shops I had been to. I was looking for the watch when I saw her. I left the watch lying where it had been on the glass display case, walking out of the store to watch her. Her dark curls whipped in the air as she fought. She was ruthless, and incredibly strong. She was stronger than human, but not vampire. I didn’t know what she was, but she was coming, to Forks.
I watch her put a wooden stake into the chest of a creature with a mutated face. What the hell was that? When its face came into view it startled me, causing me to jump slightly. I had never seen anything like it, or her.
She was coming through Port Angeles, then going either to or through Forks. Either way, I needed to keep a close watch on her, she was dangerous, and the last thing we need in Forks was more Danger .

So the Council had me tracking this wicked vamp through Washington. The son of a bitch had killed 3 Potentials, turned another 2, and his time was way past up. I was itching to take him out, so Giles sent me on the Council's jet to Seattle. Cool town, I'd have to come back after dusting this guy. Get all touristy. I'd never had a problem with traveling. And cruising the private jet was like, posh or something. Hey, and ride that's got chilled champagne was like living the high life. I didn't have a problem knocking back some bubbly on the way in.
I'd tracked him and his cronies to the outskirts of Port Angeles, catching up to his women first. He'd ran off like a little bitch. "Tell me where Damien is." I straddled one of the Potential-turned-vampire's, punching her in the face as I questioned her. She snarled, eyes darting off to the path that lead into a deep wooded area. "I won't tell you, Slayer.", she hissed at me. "That's cool, I'll find him anyway. Thanks for the tip though." I pulled a stake from the back of my jeans and rammed it home. She dusted beneath me just as her friend sprang back up and charged me. I'd taken her down but not out while I dealt with the pile of ash under me.
I let the vamp's momentum take her up and over me as I rolled. Our arms were locked, her iron grip on mine. I held on and slammed her with a head butt, sending her staggering back. "What? That all you got?" She snarled. What's with vampires and snarling anyway? It gets old real quick, and they all do it. Totally lost it's intimidation factor after the first or second time I'd seen it. I waved a hand at her, inviting her to step up. "Come on then." She ran at me again. I dodged at the last minute, spinning, my leg extended low. The sweep kick knocked her down. I kicked up, just as she rose, coming at me again. I threw a punch, kicked her hard in the gut. Her fist came at me, I blocked, gave her an uppercut, then shoved her back. I hit the ground and rolled, grabbing my stake and leaping back up. As she came at me again from behind, without turning around I threw my arm back, nailing her heart. She dusted behind me.
I tucked the stake back in my jeans and turned. The next town was called Forks, I'd bet money Damien was heading there. I'd already chased him out of Port Angeles. But he wasn't making it to Forks tonight, it was almost dawn, and I wanted some breakfast. I headed back toward town to find a Denny's or something.
By the time I got into Port Angeles, it was early morning, the sun obscured behind dark clouds. "What's with all the rain? Not that I miss Sunnydale all that much, but some rays would be nice once in a while." I stopped in the first restaurant I found and ordered a massive breakfast. Bacon, sausage, 3 eggs, a biscuit covered in gravy, and hash browns. I'd head into Forks after Breakfast, and have Damien dead by nightfall. He wasn't killing any more Potentials.
Halfway through my grub, my cell vibrated in my pocket. I slipped it free. "Giles." I smirked and flipped the phone open. "Yo, Giles. What's shaking?" Of course, he was just checking up on the sitch. "I got the 2 he turned, but he got away. Fled toward Forks." I shoveled another bite of eggs into my mouth, mumbling over my food. "You know, I could use a ride. Any strings you can pull to get me hooked up with a car?" I'd make it to Forks a hell of a lot faster if I had a car. I grinned as Giles told me there'd be a car ready at the rental place down the road. "Wicked. Thanks G-man. I'll give you a shout when Damien's dust." I flipped the phone shut and got busy wolfing down my breakfast.

I watched it all as I parked my yellow porche at the car rental that she would be stopping at soon. Faith... Vampire Slayer... I couldn't believe it. I watched her hunt down and stake two... things. She called them vampires, but those weren't any kind of vampire I'd ever seen. Their faces were distorted, all bunched up between the eyes. They had a human form as well. And that wooden stake... Went right through their chest! Those were no vampires... Only Shifter teeth or another vampires teeth were strong enough to cut through a vampires flesh. Something was off. I couldn't understand how a human could run down a vampire anyhow. Sure, we're not nearly as fast as Edward, but a human could never.... I sighed. Others knew where she was, she was on the phone with someone named Giles now... Oh. He was the reason she was coming to me soon.
I got out of the car and walked up to the counter. "Hello there." I smiled pleasantly. "I'm Faith Lehane, a Mr. Giles should have me down for a vehicle."
The male clerk smiled at me and had me sign a slip of paper. "It's yours as long as you need it ma'am."
I cocked my head to one side a smiled deeper. "Well, thank you very much." I took the keys to the compact toyota and got into the car. I drove it out of the town limits and parked it on the side of the road. I ran back in a flash, as the real Faith was just finishing her breakfast. I was at my porche as she was paying the bill. I began to play around with decisions... changing the future time and time again.
What if I just asked her what a slayer was... She would become defensive, play dumb, then get aggressive... a fight would ensue. Ok, not the way to go.
What if I just started a conversation with her... She would look at me like I'm crazy, if I persisted she would become spicious, get defensive, then aggressive and a fight would ensue....
ok... What if I kidnapped her.... She would escape, many more of her kind would come, invade Forks and a war would ensue.
What if we left well enough alone? She would find one of our kind one day and hunt us all down with the same damn army...
It's just too un clear....
She was coming. The clerk inside was busy. I stood away from the door, next to the porche. Faith would have to walk right past me.

I finished off my breakfast, so full I felt like I was gonna pop. Good thing that only lasts for a minute. Having a super metabolism burns it off quick. I swallowed the last of my large o.j. and left a $20 on the table by the check. It even included a tip. If not for the Council and the new funding, I'd have ended up doing another dine & ditch.
I left the cafe and headed down the road to the car rental. I hoped Giles new me well enough to know that I'd need a sweet ride. I'd seen some of his cars, more like tin boxes on wheels. When I want wheels, I'm talkin' some serious wheels. Gotta have that horsepower, and needs to look sharp.
As I approached the lot I kept scanning the rigs, saw a couple I could get real used to. A deep blue Mustang, a cherry-red Jeep, even an army green Hummer. I knew it was a long shot, but damn I wanted that Hummer! Then I rounded that row of cars and headed for the office, that's when I saw it. The sweetest yellow Porche I'd ever laid eyes on. And some chick standing next to it. Damn, it was probably hers. Well, I better have a Corvette waiting for me, unless Giles did the real unexpected and hooked me up with that wicked Hummer.
I gave the chick a half smirk as I strolled up. I let my fingers trail over the sleek body of the Porche, letting out a long, low whistle. "Damn, this is a nice ride. Yours?"

I saw her leave the twenty dollar bill… Nice tip for the waitress, considering the bill was only $11.37. She was headed this way. She appeared to be content, full I expected. She’s looking at the cars. Oh, no… She keeps the Hummer in mind, she wants the Hummer.I could have run inside and grabbed the keys to that bohemith vehicle, but there was no point. She didn’t have the cash to rent something like that, andI pulled the wires out of the wall I was standing near now they cannot accept credit cards. The vacant look on my face will give me away if I keep it up too much longer. She sees the Porche.
I shook my head slightly and looked her way. She whistled her appreciation for my yellow car. I imagined she was picturing herself driving it, weaving up and down the streets, hunting… whatever that thing was she killed earlier. "Damn, this is a nice ride. Yours?" I smiled at her. “Yes. Yes it is.” I walked to the front of the car and leaned against it. I waited for the events to play out. She would go inside, not have a rental, then I would offer her a ride. That was the only plan that didn’t involve any fighting, and that was still if-y. Faith Lehane had the temperament of a bi-polar grisly bear. I smiled at myself. Emmet would like this Slayer. Rosalie would hate her. I almost laughed out loud.

"Bully for you then." I smirked at the chick and walked into the office. The lady behind the desk looked a bit frantic. "Uh, hey, I'm supposed to pick up a car." With a heavy sigh, and a very annoyed look, the chick behind the counter spoke up. "Look, we're in a bit of a jam at the moment. Our credit machines don't seem to be working. We're trying to get the company on the line now and see what can be done. It'll be a wait though. Could you come back later?" I shoved my hands in my jeans pockets. "Look lady, I don't really have the time to be dicking around here. Rupert Giles reserved me a rig. All I want are the damn keys."
She eyed me suspiciously. "Rupert Giles has only reserved one car today, and I'm sorry to say that the young woman he reserved it for has already claimed it." I blinked a couple times. What? Some jerk-off came in and took my car, and these idiots didn't even ask for fucking ID? "Ok, great. Fucking wonderful. So uh, did this 'young woman' happen to be Faith Lehane? Cause that would be me." I glared at her, fishing my wallet out of my back pocket and shoving it in her face, open to display my ID. "It's your fuck up. Eat it. But you're giving me my car."
Oh, fucking perfect. To top it off, Mr. Balding Manager came waddling out. "Is there a problem here, Myrtle?" "Well, Mr. Thompson, this young lady says she's Faith Lehane, but....but her car was already...you see, there was another girl who came in and...." I threw up a hand. "Forget it." I stomped out of the office, fishing for a cigarette. I pulled one from the pack, stuck it between my lips and flipped open my zippo to light it. I took a deep drag, blowing the smoke out slowly, trying to calm down. It didn't work. "FUCK!!!" I turned and slammed my fist into the building, the concrete flaking away and crumbling beneath my fist.
I turned around, my knuckles bruised, one busted open a little. "Shit." I noticed Porche girl still standing there. I wiped my knuckles on my jeans, took another drag. "Uh, bad day." Well, looks like I was hoofing it. Unless I hot wired one of these bad boys. But I wasn't really looking to add grand theft auto to my wrap sheet.

Watching the events take place now seemed to mute the ones I had just watched in my head. Somehow, it seemed to have more of an impact watching Faith punch the wall, but what I didn't forsee was what my reaction to smell of her blood would be like. One tiny smudge of blood was all it took. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. Her aroma was intoxicating. What is she? I didn't have a problem holding myself back. The smell of her blood didn't make me want to eat her, but use her as febreeze in our home. She smelled that good. It was an intising scent. I wonder if all vampires, even the weird ones she just... I wonder if she gets that reaction often. I shook it off. I knew I needed to be alert with her.
"Uh, bad day."
I smiled as I walked over to the drivers side of my car. "That bad huh?" I laughed a little, "If we're going the same way I'll give you a lift. I'm headed to Forks."

"I've had worse. I just don't take bad news very well." I saw the chunk I'd taken out of the brick of the building from my peripheral vision. Proof right there that I'm still a bit of a loose canon from time to time. But hey, at least it was a brick and not someone's face. Back in the day.....
I raised an eyebrow. Was this chick serious? Well, I've hitched before, and she was a lot less skeevy than some of the truckers I'd ridden with. Plus, hello Porsche! And bonus, she was heading to Forks.
I thought about it for a min. I still couldn't shake the vamp vibe I'd had since breakfast. Could be leftovers, could be they were still nearby. The sun wasn't penetrating the thick cloud layer, and the forests around were pretty dense. I didn't want this poor chick to get into something nasty because of a vamp I had some beef with. But, you know how it goes, beggars...choosers...blah blah blah. "I am actually going to Forks."
"What the hell, I'm in." I walked over to the passenger side, hopped up and over the side door and slid effortlessly into the seat. "Let's motor then." I smiled over at her, kicking back in my seat, one arm propped behind my head. I may not have the car Giles reserved for me because of some screw up, but at least I'd be rolling into Forks in style.
