First Name: Kaori
Last Name: Rae (The Second)
Age: 20
Height/Weight: 5/4"/ 130 lbs to 230 lbs
Persuasion: Fucking Psycho
Type of Creature Hellspawn
Powers: Poe is, after being killed and then brought back to 'life' by Clown (the Violator from Spawn) as a hellspawn, gifted with the powers of shape-shifting (which seems to be practically unlimited) and teleportation. She also has increased strength, though only moderately increased (she can lift 500 lbs single handed without any real or noticable strain), and she has the ability to control her body's density much the same as Spawn (from Spawn), though to a lesser degree.
Weapons: Poe generally does not carry weapons on her. Her tools of destruction are often just whatever object is nearest her when she flies into a rage. She does, however, prefer butcher knives for those murders carried out personally. For mass murders she prefers homemade bombs and has even gotten her hands on nerve gas more than once . . . or twice. "I do believe you are foaming at the mouth." is reported to be her parting statement to a teller at Southwestern Allied Banking on September 22, just before her 19th birthday.
Appearance: Though Poe can change her appearance at will she usually remains in some form of her original body.
Blonde hair to ass- usually in braids; slender; tattoo on tailbone of a bleeding heart with vines strangling it- at least She also enjoys the form of what she calls Spawn Girl, which is basicly a copy of Spawn's costume. In that form she takes on long black hair, and the green glowing eyes.
History:
Birth:
Born to Kaori Rae and Robert Mortem, Poe was named for her mother. She was the 6th child of 8. Her twin, a boy, died a month before birth. Both of the unborn children had been wrapped in their umbilical chords, but only Poe managed to untangle herself. As her brother was wrapped in not only his umbilical chord, but hers, it was thought that she had unintentionally tangled them both up and been the cause of her brother's death. The doctor's attribute some of her mental health issues to the long period of time she was entangled in her umbilical chord and that of her brother's.
Family:
Raised in close quarters with her siblings, ranging from the age of 28 to 5, Poe often went unnoticed. Robert Mortem, her father, sexually abused her sisters (Nilene, 26; Rose, 21; and Yuri, 16) and her youngest brother, Charlie (Charlize, 5 years old, the son of Robert Mortem and his oldest daugher, Nilene). He did not forget the boys, though, (James, 28; Axel, 21; and North, 20) and physically abused each of them. The twins, Axel and Rose, were sexually involved, perhaps partially due to the trama of their father's abuse. After James and Nilene moved out, none of the other children were allowed to leave the home. They had a strict curfew and Yuri and Charlie were both home schooled.
The first 18 years:
Never quite what you would call normal, Poe lived an interesting childhood. She would often talk to herself, but she would insist that she was talking to her friends. She drew pictures of the most disturbing scenes, and often resorted to self-mutilation. For the most part, though, her sadistic behavior was targeted only towards herself. She barely interacted with her siblings, as the majority of them avoided her out of fear and a lack of understanding. The only bonds she had were with her mother, a loving and gentle woman, her eldest brother, James, and her youngest brother, Charlie. She had no feelings toward any of her other siblings, nor towards her great-grandmother, grandfather, or aunt. Her father was the only other member of her family who was privelaged enough to draw emotions from her, and they were a mix of fear and blinding hatred.
Charlie, being autistic, could not understand, nor speak out about, the things his father did to him, and Poe took it upon herself to protect her youngest sibling. If she ever knew love as a child, it was for him.
The First 15 Victims:
As with most cold-blooded murderers, there was a point where Poe's sanity took its final leap out of a 23rd story window.
Just days before her 18th birthday, Poe walked in on her father sexually molesting Charlie. She had always known that he had abused the boy in the same manner as he had abused all of his daughters, but another part of her tried not to deal with the knowledge. When she was finally face with the cold, hard reality of seeing it first hand, she snapped. Picking up the leg lamp, much like the one from the movie The Christmas Story, Poe swung with all of her strength for her Father's head. She did not see her mother running to protect the monster of a man she had married, nor did she hear her scream until it was too late. She felt the lamp hit a skull and break, and when she pulled the bloody remnants back to swing again something truly snapped inside of her.
Laying across the bed was her mother, her skull split open and part of the lamp stuck within the mess of blood and hair. Screaming, she charged her father with the broken lamp, turning it so that she could impale him on the heel. Though the man survive the first stab, and even a few of the swings that followed, he did not survive the knife that he had armed himself with. Poe stabbed her father more than 14 times after she discarded the remnants of the lamp.
When she backed away from the bodies on the bed she was covered with the blood of her parents. Turning to her beloved brother she looked blankly at his frightened face. She heard herself speaking, but didn't understand any of the words as she wrapped her arms around the five year old boy. Kissing his cheeks, and wiping his tears away, she promised him that he would be okay, and that no one would ever hurt him again. A moment later she snapped his neck.
She rationalized that it was the best thing for him. That, as she had promised, no one would ever hurt him again. She left him, smeared with the blood that had been on her hands, with her parents and left the house. None of her siblings had been awakened by the screams of her mother and the house was left in peace.
Her first stop was her eldest brother's home. She no longer had a reason for killing her siblings, other than the echo in her mind that told her she was protecting them from people like her father. She killed James, who lived alone, with the old fashioned clock she found in his kitchen- one of those creepy cat eyed things with the swinging tail. When it failed to finish the job she picked up the stainless steel alarm clock beside his bed, shaped like a stretching cat, and split his skull much like she had her mother's.
Her next stop was her eldesty sister's home, Nilene, where she took an axe and removed her sister's head from her body. She did not harm the man sleeping on the couch- her sister's fiance. She didn't even wake him.
She transported the bodies of her brother and sister back to her home, then, having stuffed them in the backseat of her father's rundown oldsmobile.
She entered her home again and moved one by one through her siblings' rooms. Axel and Rose, the twins who shared a bed and much, much more, were killed with a rope wrapped around their necks multiple times. She tied them together, hands to hands, feet to feet, face to face, naked after she had strangled them, and left them that way.
By this time she had begun speaking to herself as if speaking to her father. She had begun to believe the dillusion that he was still alive, following her, watching her. She killed North by slitting his throat with a broken glass, and finally, she shot her youngest sister with her father's shotgun.
Before leaving the house, once more, she left food down for her pets. She had gone through the ritual of feeding the corgy and two siamese cats as if she were about to go to school, except for the massive doses of rat poison she added to the moist food.
Her next stop was her great-grandmother's home. She found the old woman sleeping in her own room and killed her by suffocationg her with an embroidered pillow in the shape of a kewpie doll. Walking through the Kewpie infested home, she found her aunt sleeping in the master bedroom, and she broke a 24" tall percelain cupie doll over her aunt's face, then, to seal the deal, she broke a kewpie painted plate over the same spot.
Finally, she reached her grand-father's home. By this time she was ranting unintelligably about how she had protected the rest of her family, but her father was right- her grandfather was to blame for all of it. If he hadn't have drank away his son's childhood, and beaten him senselss every night of his young life, her father wouldn't have become the monster that he was. She calmly told her grandfather exactly what she thought of him and these things as she picked up the log turner from the fireplace and ran him through.
Once again transporting the bodies to her own home, she drug them inside. By dawn she had killed her entire family, and her pets lay in the living room twisted and sleeping in their own vomit.
She spent the next day transporting her family and the pets to a construction site and burying them in very, very deep graves. The area was due to be paved over for the new mall's parking lot the next day. The bodies would never be found.
The Bombing Stage:
After killing off the rest of her family, Poe murdered a few other people, but she soon found that murdering en-masse was much more enjoyable for her. She quickly learned how to make her own bombs, and even managed to get her hands on nerve gas. All seven locations she bombed were chosen at random, and she hit no single organization twice.
Picked up just after her 19th birthday, Poe had already accumulated a dozen confirmed individual victims and at least 4 dozen more victims in mass bombings and releases of nerve gases. All 7 locations for the bombings and nerve gas attacks were randomly chosen.
She has been quoted to say: "Hey, just because I bomb schools, churches, and community groups with slow killing and extremely painful nerve gasses doesn't mean I'm not a good person!"
Prison:
Poe only spent a matter of 16 months in prison before she managed to break out. The details of the escape were lost with the facility, as she managed to - though no one knows how - blow the entire facility into little more than rubble shortly after her escape.
Rebirth:
Some time after her escape from her incarceration Poe came across a vendor, who never did identify himself, that sold her, for practically nothing, a belt that both transported her from place to place (its limits were never discovered) and could give her the appearance of shifting forms. She could, at the time, only change into other people, but as she had a highly active imagination she could change into literally anyone.
As she continued to travel Poe found herself, though unintentionally, in Rat City (New York). Poe was found by Spawn (from the comic books "Spawn") as she threatened to eat a homeless man. She quickly latched on to him, and - inevitably- came across - or was stumbled across by - Clown (A.K.A. Violator from "spawn" and "Violater"). Clown offered to make her a Hellspawn, and she took him up on the offer, slitting her own throat with a grin.
And here we are, with the present Poe.
It takes little to nothing to set her off as she is both mentally and emotionally unstable and had been - before her transformation by The Violator- diagnosed with a Mutliple Personality Disorder- though doctors were beginning to believe that it was all a show put on for her own amusement. Now, on the other hand, she carries the souls of her victims within her body and her mind- and they constantly plague her.
Poe is not sane enough to be afraid of anyone or anything . .and somehow she has lived through more than her fair share of close calls.
This character was created, originally, for Comics Fun and has been intermittantly played there. It has had some interaction with the characters of Spawn and Clown, a.k.a. Violator from the comic series "Spawn". She will not make references to her former activities on Comics Fun, nor will she make references to Clown or Spawn, and from this point on her continuity on Macabre Daze will be completley seperate from that of Comics Fun.
