For now, this will be an announcement...to get my point across.
It is inevitably time for rules.
I knew this day would come, so I am not entirely unprepared.
Most of what this post shall consist of will not be out of the question, preposterous, or so forth. It is a sad fact that I should have to reiterate these simple points of courtesy at all.
First off, be respectful of ALL the other players on this board. This goes above and beyond the basic respect for another person's rights. PM's are a beautiful thing. USE THEM. For casual chat, for airing out your differences, for discussing private plot line, etc. If you have a personal issue with a player, it should not extend into the game itself and affect characters in play. You may bring it to the attention of other staff members if you so desire, but it is not something that needs to cover the forum itself.
Don't move another person's character without their consent. Examples of exceptions to this would be if two characters are moving in the same direction. Don't "God Mode" or assume control of a character that isn't yours. Don't KILL another character without permission. If someone moves your character in a fashion you do not agree with, then PM them and talk about resolving it. Modify the threads if you have to. If a character decides to die or be killed off, give reasons in the RP. Vice Versa if you are bringing someone back to life.
Don't modify or change a person's posting without talking to them FIRST. This goes for all staff members including myself. I will take administrative steps if need be, or I find something entirely inapproriate, but I will not impose my will on your creativity. This is designed to be a place of entertainment, for the benefit of ALL of us.
If a thread is not titled specifically (Open), (Closed), or (Tag ... ), then PM the original author (or authors if it applies), and ask before posting, just in case. Sometimes even I forget to add whether a thread is open or not. But there are sometimes specific plots or storylines in place, not just being developes. And the best thing to do in these cases would be to PM and ask first.
Plain and simple, be fucking courteous.
Questions, complaints, comments? PM Staff. There is a ~STAFF~ list located in the Sign Ups. I'm always willing to help you guys out, and all my staffers are great folks, so they will too. If one of us can't help ya out, we can at least defer you to another member who can.
When I have more time, I will elaborate more, as I know there is more I wish to say.
It's a game too. A story. Role-Playing in a forum like this is half acting and half writing. You are assuming a "role" and "playing" that character out to the best of your ability. Stay as true to the character as you can...even if you want to move it in another direction that may seem uncharacteristic, try to still sound like, or eminate their personality. Ya know, be flexible and stay 'in character'. Get it? So, essentially, whether you're just rollin' with the punches in a thread, or have a specific plot lined up, remember that you are telling a story with the other characters involved. And have fun with it. Be creative. Unleash your inner....whatever. The only limits are your imagination.
Revel in the Daze~!
