Amelia did not have any brothers or sisters, her mother had always said that she could not conceive in the States. Amelia had an older cousin by the name of Sara. She had more cousins but they died in Ireland from small pox.
Amelia’s childhood was lonely. At the age of 2, her mother was always sick in bed, and her father was always working long hours. In 1913, Amelia’s Uncle Foalan, Aunt Marga and cousin Sara would make the trip from Ireland to the Americas and stay with her and her family for a short time. The bond that the two girls shared was invincible; little did they know that their love for one another would last lifetimes.
Amelia’s mother passed on in the year 1915, she was only 5 years old. Amelia’s father passed shortly after his wife, only 3 months later. Amelia’s Uncle and Aunt took her in, treating her like their own daughter. Sara and Amelia were inseparable from then on. While Sara learned about magic, Amelia watched. Not quite understanding the concept of witches and the craft, not being of magical blood caused her great confusion.
Amelia had happy years after the loss of both parents. She was raised with her cousin, whom she thought of as a big sister, and so was treated. Amelia’s Uncle and Aunt sent Sara off to college, not wanting her to marry quickly. Amelia was trailing behind Sara by a year. When Sara went off to college it was devastating for her. A year later, Amelia was sent, and the two were reunited as if they had never been apart.
The year was 1929, Amelia was attending NYU. When she found out about Adam, Sara’s beau, Amelia was torn to shreds. Amelia thought that Sara would forget about her, and that she would only want to spend her time with Adam. Although Adam was handsome to look upon, Amelia secretly despised him. This loathing lasted for about 3 months. Adam had gained Amelia’s trust by spending his time wisely with Sara, making sure not to leave Amelia out of important things. In the end, Amelia respected Adam, for treating Sara so well.
Adam and Sara seemed to have a happy life together. Amelia floated in and out of distorted thoughts. She had wanted to find of lover of her own. Adam was always kind to Amelia, never drinking from her flesh. Sara had been Adams Pomme de Sang, Amelia was just along for the ride. Amelia became lost, not finding love from a man, not having all of the attention from her sister-like cousin. She became dark and bitter, although not to the people who cared for her. She did not finish school, and was lost with who she had been, who she was, and who she was yet to become.
In the spring of 1935, Sara became ill. Amelia’s world seemed to be falling apart. Amelia never left Sara’s side, and pleaded with her to see someone about her illness. Amelia’s mother had died of Tuberculosis, not wanting the same fate to be fall her only family, she could do nothing. When Sara finally saw a doctor, the news was dreadful. Sara was going to die of Cancer. Amelia became violent with rage. Blaming God and everyone for her fast upbringing, and causing her all the pain she knew.
In the fall of 1935, Adam had sired Sara, preventing her from death. Amelia was saddened and over joyed. Sara would live…. Forever. Although whatever happened to one happened to both, Amelia was turned by Adam as well. Adam somehow knew that Amelia, the child like sister/daughter of Sara, would be a key part in both their happiness. Amelia had wanted to be with Sara forever, never leaving her side, always together.
One frightful night, the end of summer 1953, everything changed. Amelia thought that her new family was perfect. With perfection, comes disappointment. In a flash Adam was killed. A group of vampires killed him, while aiming for Sara. Amelia had been pushed to the side, not yet knowing enough to fight among her seriate father and cousin. Amelia was taken from them both. Ripped out of the only happiness she knew.
Years flew by, these fellowship Vampires, as they called themselves, tortured her and -scarred her tender flesh. 15 years would pass, causing her memory to slowly disappear from her mind. Full of rage and loathing, she began to bond with the fellowship, becoming one of their many. Eventually, they allowed her to sleep with the rest, accepting her.
Amelia let the fascade gone on for a few months, before she turned on them and slaughtered them all. She knew what they had done, and she held that grudge against them her entire existance. She had forgotten what is was like to love, to respect. She only cared about herself. Though there would always be the need for companionship, she pushed it to the back of her mind.
Amelia stood, crept out of the den filled with dust. She stole a cloak from the closet, draped it over her head, and caught the last train to New York. Something was calling to her, or someone. One location seemed to shout at her, ‘come here, come here’. Amelia couldn’t remember why that location was so important; she merely knew she had to go, before it drove her completely insane.
