Quentin Danvers

The House of Payne wasn’t a place Quentin normally visited. In fact, she’d only been there two or three times that she recalled. She had a handful of places she visited frequently where people knew her, called her by name… Or some name she went by, anyway.

Tonight she wasn’t in the mood to be recognized. Even in her home town, it sometimes required her to put on a show just to talk to people. If someone asked her, ‘How’s your day?’ she could very rarely tell the straight up, honest truth without sounding like a total nut job:

“My day?” she’d say. “Oh, it’s been great. Just friggin’ peachy. Wanna know why? I spent the first half of it dodging phone calls from my ex and listening to crazy bitches on ‘Reality TV’ talk about their ‘feelings’. Then I spent a good chunk of my time in 1984. What? No, I don’t mean the book, you asshat. If I meant the book, I would’ve thrown the word ‘book’ in that sentence somewhere. No, fuckwad, I’m not drunk. I’m always like this, so deal or go find a flying brick to jump in front of. What? I seem cranky? Well, no shit, I’m cranky. I just told you I spent half my day in nineteen-fucking-eighty-four. You’d be cranky, too, if you had to listen to Karma Chameleon every five minutes for six hours while subjecting yourself to ‘80s hair. I’ve never inhaled so much fucking hairspray in my life. What? No, you can’t buy me a drink. Are you out of your fucking mind?”

And she already had a pounding headache nothing but time would get rid of, so that wasn’t a conversation she was in any sort of mood to have. No, tonight she’d lay low, have a few drinks, and keep to herself.

She walked in wearing a denim cutoff skirt over black tights and a white t-shirt with the collar cut out of it so the neck of it was widened. It said, ‘Acid Burn’ on the front of it and had been a big conversation piece when she was walking around 1984 London. Her hair had been teased and hairsprayed to the point of no return earlier, but it had been foggy and humid when she popped back into present-day Boston, so it had flattened quite a bit. Now it just looked kind of ratty. Her eyes were thickly lined with black liner and blue shadow.

Not exactly the best look to have if she wanted to blend in, but she hadn’t bothered to change, and it wasn’t exactly uncommon to see people bringing back old looks these days.

Quentin sat down at the bar and nodded to the bartender.

“Hey, how’s it goin’? she said. “Can I get a Corona?”

She ran a hand through her hair and tried to comb out some of the tangles with her fingers. There was dark blue polish on her fingernails that was starting to chip.

~First Person~

I wasnt familiar with this place but would do anything to get back in contact with the real world this soul was eating at my body and torturing me. I would slowly glance around the bar seeing there was a female who had just ordered a Corona which was exactly the drink he wanted also. So with careful steps he walked over taking a seat he nodded toward the bartender to bring two drinks instead of one and he than glanced at Quentin before smiling lightly.

"The first few rounds are on me,name's Connor."

I introduced myself as our drinks arrived i took a minute to stare at mine before taking a sip and wrinkling my nose. I rather would be drinking blood or atleast Vodka but a friend had said i needed to try something new. I leaned back a bit before i realized i had leaned back to far i was lying on the floor, laughing my ass off.

Quentin Danvers

Quentin gave up on her hair. Nothing but a handful of conditioner and an industrial wide-toothed comb would help it now. She sighed, leaning her elbows on the bar and massaging her temples, trying to will away her headache even though she knew it wouldn’t work.

She glanced up at the guy who sat down next to her and ordered a second Corona.

“The first few rounds are on me,” he said. ”Name’s Connor.”

Quentin raised an eyebrow. You’ve gotta be kidding me, she thought. But she was never one to turn down a free drink or two.

“Thanks,” she said. “I’m Quentin.”

The bartender brought their drinks over and Quentin laughed as she watched Connor take a sip. It was kind of like watching a little kid take a dose of cough medicine. And then he fell off the stool and landed on the floor and Quentin couldn’t help herself. She put her head down on top of her arms on the bar, her shoulders shaking with laughter. She didn’t know why it was so funny. Maybe it was because this guy had seemed like one of those dark, mysterious types. He had this air of brooding confidence when he sat down.

She finally sat up, wiping tears from her cheeks. She was surprised, but relieved to see that he was laughing, too.

“How much did you have to drink before you got here?” she asked. “’Cause if one sip of Corona knocks you on your ass, you should really consider taking up another vice.”

She tipped her bottle at him in emphasis before taking a long swig. She felt better now that she’d had a good laugh.

"Three to five bottles of Vodka, not much."

I moved with unhuman speed and was sitting back on my stool once again smiling toward Quentin for the moment i just watched her with a curious stare before my attention turned outside.
I rose from my seat heading straight toward the door i slowly opened it and glanced around the pitch black street. The smell of blood was high in the air and it was very close, with a cautious step i approached the alleyway where a group of vampires were feeding on a group of teenagers.

"Hey! Pick on someone your own species."

I turned to tell Quentin to stay inside but barely had the chance as a sword stabbed through my lower stomach causing my eye to lightly twitch. I turned around and ripped the sword out decapitating two of the five vampires in the process.

"You souless VAMPIRES are all the same, you spot anything with blood and think it's an instant meal ticket."

A hidden gaunlet shot from my underarm dusting one of the three remaining vampires i than lunged at the last two, sliding between them i decapitated one and staked the other.

As the dust cleared from the air i turned to glance at my wounds before turning back toward Quentin making sure she was alright i than frowned. I felt like an outcast once again not belonging to the world i turned and headed acrost the street hoping she'd stop me.

Quentin Danvers

“Three to five bottles of vodka,” Connor replied to her little joke. “Not much.”

Quentin narrowed her eyes slightly. It sounded like a joke, but the delivery sounded a bit dry to Quentin. She didn’t have a lot of time to mull it over, since he was back on the stool again far too quickly. She hadn’t even seen him move.

“Holy shit,” she breathed, leaning back slightly, startled, her blue eyes wide.

Connor simply smiled at her, like he hadn’t just done something totally inhuman and completely unnatural. Deciding not to draw attention to it, she took another sip of her drink. People who weren’t exactly ‘normal’ didn’t usually like other people to know it. That was how she felt most of the time. Quentin glanced around at the other people in the bar. She liked to people-watch sometimes. Other people interested her.

There were a few people drinking at the bar, some people scattered around at booths and tables. No one was really doing much of anything, so there really wasn’t much for her to watch. She sighed.

She got an eerie feeling and realized Connor was watching her. She looked at him with a puzzled expression.

What is this guy’s deal? she thought.

“What?” she asked.

But then he looked alert, like he’d just heard something, and headed for the door. Quentin stared after him. Was it just her, or was this guy kind of a spaz? She saw him disappear out the door without so much as a backward glance at her. She shrugged.

“Okay,” she muttered to herself. “See you around… or not.”

She sipped her drink, planning on finishing it and heading home. But then she heard someone screaming. A few others in the bar seemed to have heard it, too.

“What the hell?” Quentin exclaimed, looking at the bartender, who had a hard expression on his face.

She walked over to the door while the scuffle continued outside. Other people in the bar had begun to talk, exchanging theories and questions. Quentin opened the door and peered outside.

“You soulless VAMPIRES are all the same…”

Was that Connor? Quentin ventured outside cautiously as he continued.

“…you spot anything with blood and think it’s an instant meal ticket.”

Vampires. Now that would explain a lot. The question was, what kind of vampires?

Quentin wasn’t unskilled in combat, but she didn’t exactly go looking for it either. She was used to controlled fighting in a ring, and rarely had to use the skills she had to actually hurt anyone. Without getting too close for comfort, Quentin approached the alley the noise was coming from and looked around the corner.

It was dark, but the light from the moon and a nearby streetlight allowed her to see a little of what was going on. She saw a figure, the right build and height to be Connor, slide between two other figures. One lost its head, and she couldn’t quite see what happened to the other. Both of them turned to dust as they fell and had disappeared before their undead bodies hit the ground.

Oh. They turn to dust, she thought. Okay, that’s a new one.

“Holy shit!” someone said behind her, making her jump and turn around. It was a man wearing a baseball cap. “Did… Did he just kill two people?? HEY, that guy just killed two people!!”

Oh, God, she thought, rolling her eyes.

“No no no,” she said quickly, turning to the man who had wandered out behind her.

A few others had gathered around as well, but they all just looked confused. They must not have seen anything.

“They, uh, they got away, I think,” she said. “Yeah, yeah I think they got away. A few guys got into it and that other guy just broke it up.”

“You saw it?” the man asked, his tone half doubtful, half curious.

“Yeah,” she said, nodding. “Yeah, I saw everything. He showed up, broke up the fight, beat a couple of ‘em pretty bad. But it looks like everyone scattered. Everything’s cool.”

The guy seemed to be buying it and pulled out a cell phone. “I should probably call the cops, doncha think?”

“Yeah,” she said absently, watching Connor disappear across the street. “Yeah, you do that. I think there was a girl screaming. She might need help… I’m gonna go check and see if anyone’s hurt.”

The man called after her, but she ignored him, already making her way further down the alley. She kept her eye out for bodies, any evidence of these so-called vampires. But, there was nothing.

“Holy shit,” she muttered. “They really did turn to fucking dust… Well… Isn’t that nifty.”

She heard whimpering and looked around the alley. She saw a young girl huddled against a wall, her knees pulled up against her chin and her arms wrapped around her legs. She was rocking back and forth and crying.

“Oh, for the love of…” She sighed, trailing off, and approached the girl. She crouched down beside the girl and, after a few seconds of talking softly to her, assuring her she wouldn’t hurt her, the girl clung to her and hugged her.

“Okay. Shh. You’re gonna be okay,” Quentin muttered. “The police are coming, okay? They’re gonna help you.”

After managing to tear herself away from the girl, Quentin left the alley and crossed the street, vaguely in the direction Connor had gone a few minutes ago. She walked down the street a little ways, but there was no sign of him that she could see.

“Man, when you wanna disappear, you really get gone,” she said.

She stood on the sidewalk for a moment, folding her arms across her chest, trying to decide what to do next.

I sat perched on the rooftop with my arms folded i watched Quentin with a slight glare before jumping to another rooftop and locking eyes with her.

"You're very amusing Quentin."

My voice was low for the time as i glanced at a set of cops who had spotted me and before i moved bullets flew over my head i was skinned acrost the cheek by one but easily moved away jumping down behind Quentin i slightly hid.

"It isnt safe here, we need to go."

I gently took her hand in mine before climbing the wall like an over drugged spider man with my strength i easily pulled her with me but only if she wanted to follow. I needed to just keep her as a friend for the last female who i hooked with had died.

"You remind me of my old flame Elisha."

I helped Quentin onto the roof.

Quentin Danvers

Quentin stood on the sidewalk, figuring this Connor guy was long gone.

That’s probably a good thing, she thought. The last thing I need is to be hanging out with some guy who thinks he’s Blade or some shit…

“You’re very amusing Quentin.”

The voice was low and eerie, and startled her slightly. She could hear the sound of police sirens off in the distance. Someone must have called the cops earlier. She looked around, but didn’t see anyone.

And then she looked up to see Connor, perched on the roof of a building, staring down at her.

“Jesus!” she said, startled.

And then she heard gunshots. There must have been cops the next street over, since she didn’t see any cruisers or uniforms on this street. She jumped and cried out as Connor landed behind her.

“What the- did you just…?” She looked down the alley and saw a few cops looking around as Connor hid behind her. Apparently he was trying to dodge the cops.

“It isn’t safe here,” Connor said. “We need to go.”

“Wait, go?” she said, as he took her hand and led her over to a building. “Go where?”

There was definitely something up with this guy, and she wasn’t sure he was entirely human. But, as he started scaling the wall of the building, taking her along for the ride, she was sure he couldn’t have been entirely human.

“HOLY SHIT!” she screamed, clinging to him as he climbed the wall with her in tow.

Quentin wasn’t normal – she could teleport through time and space – but being carried up the wall of a building like she was Mary Jane, that was different.

“You remind me of my old flame Elisha,” he said as he pulled her onto the roof.

Quentin held onto his shoulders to steady herself and looked up at him, her eyes wide.

“Oh, great,” she said. “That’s good to know, really.”

She backed away from him slightly, not sure what to make of him. She was hoping if he’d been planning to hurt her he would’ve done it already, but she couldn’t be sure.

“How did you do that?” she asked. “What, are you, like, Superman, or something?”

I chuckled lowly toward her for the whole spiderman thing amusedd me. With a low sigh I sat down leaning on the roof top's edge, i winced as more blood poured from the stab wound. It would take a day or two to heal.

"Have you heard of the Vampires,Darla and Angelus?''

She had to know of them for my parents were legendary. My father Angelus was known everywhere especially the watcher council knew him and his past, same went for Darla. I now closed my eyes halfway before turning to glance at Quentin.

"My Mother was a vampire and somehow she concieved my and well and she couldnt have me the right way so she s-staked herself and the funny thing is i was born in an alleyway."

I gave Quentin a reassuring look before rising to my feet. I wasnt going to hurt her i couldnt she was a new friend. I now held my hand out to her.

"Would you like to Get something to eat or go kill more demon and such."

I now watched her...

Connor chuckled when Quentin made the comment.

"Have you heard of the Vampires,Darla and Angelus?" he asked.

Quentin shook her head. She'd heard of the existence of vampires, but she tended to try to avoid them. After all, you didn't know if they were cool or wanted to rip your throat out until it was too late.

Connor explained that those two were his parents - how a vampire gave birth to anyone, Quentin had no idea. Connor didn't seem to either. She wasn't sure if he was serious about the circumstances of his birth or joking. Either way, it sounded kind of sad.

Then he asked if she wanted to get something to eat or kill more demons.

I don't suppose running away's an option... she thought, seeing no safe way off the roof.

"Kill more demons?" she asked. "Please tell me that was a joke."

But, considering what she'd witnessed in the alley, she doubted it was.

"Option A doesn't involve me losing a shitload of blood, does it?" she asked. "'Cause, I'm really not down with that."

She wasn't sure how the whole 'child of a vampire' thing worked, but based on what she'd seen, him being a vampire would make sense.
